About LastObject — Our Story & Founders

We Make Everyday Objects Better

LastObject started with a cotton swab and a simple question: why do we accept single-use disposable objects for things we use every single day? Founded in Copenhagen in 2019, we've shipped reusable alternatives to 60+ countries — backed by 61,000+ people who believe the same thing we do.

Our Mission

We design and make reusable alternatives to the most carelessly designed everyday objects — starting with the LastSwab. Every product we make is built to last a lifetime and replace thousands of single-use versions. We publish independent ISO Life Cycle Assessments showing our environmental impact, and we don't stop until the numbers are good.

LastSwab has an 8.3× lower environmental impact than the equivalent number of disposable swabs — verified by an independent, ISO-certified LCA. Our organic cotton products carry GOTS certification and our packaging is 100% plastic-free and FSC-certified.

How It Started

In 2019, we launched LastSwab on Kickstarter. Our funding goal was reached in 22 minutes. By the end of the campaign we had raised over $700,000 from 19,909 backers across the world. That wasn't just funding — it was proof that people were ready to replace the disposable objects they'd accepted as normal.

Since then we've launched eight fully-funded crowdfunding campaigns. LastRound replaced the cotton pad. LastTissue replaced the disposable tissue. FacePlunge brought cold water face plunging to everyday routines. Each one designed in Copenhagen, tested obsessively, and made to last.

Isabel co-founded LastObject in Copenhagen after years designing medical products — from chemotherapy take-home kits to maternity ward equipment. She holds a Master's in Collaborative Design from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Her approach to product design: the best object is the one you never think about replacing.

She is a frequent speaker on sustainable design and circular economy practices, and her work has been recognised in international design press and institutions including the Design Museum London.

Kåre Frandsen

Co-founder & Head of Industrial Design

Kåre trained as a cabinet maker before studying furniture design at Danmarks Designskole. He co-founded LastObject and leads industrial design and production — approaching every product as a maker first, obsessing over material behaviour and the feel of something in your hand.
